Spanning from Mysore Road to Kanakapura Road, Banashankari is the biggest locality in Bangalore which is located in the proximity to South Bangalore. This locality derived its name from one of the oldest and popular temples in Bangalore called Banashankari Amma Temple, which was built in Subramanya Shetty in 1915, situated on Kanakapura Road. It is very well-connected to various areas by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation as well as has Volvo bus facility. You can also find Traffic Transit Management Centre here. The second phase of Banashankari is a commercial area and quite close to Jayanagar and home to well-known personalities, such as Anil Kumble, Ramesh Arvind, Devegowda, and P.C. Mohan. Banagiri hill with Varasiddhi Vinayaka Temple and Devagiri hill having Venkateshwara Temple are located here. Also, you can find here a well-developed area Teacher’s Colony which is developed for school teachers. The sixth stage of Banashankari is the biggest of all BDA built layouts. Stunning Thurahalli hill and reserved verdant region adorn the heart of this area offering scenic, serene environment with plenty of greenery and rolling hills. Thus, as Banashankari is a pleasant area with natural ambience, people residing here give priority to their health. However, this locality has limited medical facilities. So, the inhabitants here look for modern and comfortable healthcare services, such as regular health check-up at home and physiotherapy at home.
